Exploring Pathways Summer Camp
July 8th, 2016
Once again, this year at St. Vincent's GNS, we were fortunate enough to receive funding from the Department of Education to host a free summer camp for the students of the school. The camp featured a week of music, art, drama and PE lessons, all of which focused on the subject areas of literacy and numeracy. It provided the students with a unique and enjoyable learning experience. We would like to extend thanks to Cllr. Christy Burke and TD Joe Costello, who were both in attendance as our special guests at our show case. End of Year Prize givingJune 28th, 2016
Today was a day of music, talent and prizes at St. Vincent's GNS. Awards were given out to girls for hard work, behaviour, kindness and attendance. Each of the classes then performed a song or poem or in some cases both. Congratulations to all of the girls on your awards and on such fantastic performances. Sixth Class Graduation CeremonyJune 27th, 2016
Today was very bittersweet for the staff and students of St. Vincent's GNS as we bid farewell to the girls from sixth class with a special ceremony involving their teachers and family members. The girls will be missed, but we would like to wish them every success in their futures. Best of luck girls and remember to work hard and make the most of life. Our door is always open, so do remember to visit! |
Pizza Party!June 24th, 2016
Our sixth class students received a special treat from the school today as a pizza party was thrown for them as a form of celebration for their time spent in St.Vincent's GNS. Thanks to everyone who was involved in making it happen and we hope you all enjoyed it girls! |
Presentation to our HSCL CoordinatorJune 23rd, 2016
Today, our school community paid homage to our HSCL Coordinator, Ms. Fiona Reilly. They presented her with a unique plaque which they created to say thank you for her hard work, kind heart and commitment made in her role over the last five years. Congratulations Fiona, on such a successful stint and we wish you the very best of luck as you return to the classroom next year. |
School Book FairJune 15th - 17th, 2016
The Book Fair has arrived to our school and is ready to view in Room 12. There is a very exciting and interesting collection of books which are all available to purchase at a special half price rate. The shelves contain a wide variety of genres suitable to all ages within the school. Members of the school community are invited to come and have a look at the selection in the mornings before school. Timetables are in place for when the children may view the Book Fair with their class during the day. Special thanks to Ms. Campbell for her role in organising the Fair. Happy Reading! |
TV Stars!June 2015
Today, sixth class students Diana and Jessica were treated to a very unique experience in RTE studios in Donnybrook. The girls featured on the TV show Swipe, where they discussed their participation with Trinity College Dublin's 'Quavers to Quadratics' workshop. The girls were fantastic and really enjoyed the experience. Well done girls and special thanks to Marita and Trinity College Dublin for involving us in such a wonderful project. |
Clara Lara MadnessJune 10th, 2016
Today the students of the school set off on their highly anticipated annual school tours. Everyone returned safe and still in one piece, but more importantly with a smile on their face after a great day out. The Junior & Senior Infants went to Go Kids Go, 1st - 4th class visited Pine Forest Art Centre and 5th and 6th class ventured to Clara Lara Fun Park. A Punch Above the Rest...June 9th, 2016
The staff and students of the school here today were treated to a visit from a special past pupil of the school, Kelly Harrington. Kelly is a famous Irish female Boxer who very recently claimed a silver medal, representing Ireland in the World Boxing Championships which took place in Astana, Kazakhstan. Kelly was an inspiration to us all as she answered questions, gave advice, demonstrated some moves, and signed autographs for the girls. It was our pleasure to have you Kelly and please feel free to call back in any time you wish. Special thanks to Mary for her role in organising the visit. |

Today at St. Vincent's GNS, we had our final Assembly of the year. Once again it was fantastic to hear all of the wonderful songs, readings, prayers and poems performed by the students. Green Flag Ceremony 2016June 2nd, 2016
Today was a proud day for St. Vincent's GNS as we held a ceremony to raise our fourth Green Flag for travel. The sun shone gloriously down on all of us as we watched Mrs O'Connor and members of the Green School Committee give their speeches to the staff and students of the school. Special thanks and congratulations once again to Mrs. Reid and the Green School Committee for all of their hard work and efforts in obtaining the and maintaining the flag. |
Confirmation Day at St. Vincent's GNSJune 1st, 2016
Today was one to remember for the sixth class students of the school as they made their Confirmation. All of their hard work and practise paid off as they participated in a beautiful service in St. Agatha's Church. The style was fantastic and all of the girls looked amazing. Well done girls, you should be all very proud of yourselves. Special thanks to Miss Halvey and Miss Fanning for their role in preparing the girls for the event. |
Donardagh RetreatMay 27th, 2016
Today the sixth class students of St. Vincent's GNS travelled to Donardagh with Sister Anne for a special retreat as part of their preparations for their Confirmation. It was a very unique and fulfilling experience for the girls and they had a fantastic day and learned so much. Excitement is building now for their Confirmation which will take place on June 1st. |
Santry Athletics Finals 2016May 26th, 2016
We channelled our inner Usain Bolts today as the girls from St. Vincent's GNS headed to Santry to participate in the Dublin School's athletics finals. Following weeks of training, our sprinters and relay teams took to the track and demonstrated all of the skills they had learned throughout the training sessions. It was a fantastic day out enjoyed by all. Well done girls. Special thanks to Miss Neylon, Miss Browne and Mr. Costello for their role in the athletics with the school. |

Today's Assembly for May 2016 was a celebration of our Mothers and of the Holy Mother Mary. We all thoroughly enjoyed listening to the songs and prayers from the children in addition to the reasons why their Mams are so special to them. Teddy Bear HospitalApril 29th, 2016
Today the infant classes of St. Vincent's GNS engaged in a wonderful experience. The Principal from St. Vincent's BNS, Mr. Courtney invited us to take part in the Teddy Bear Hospital run by UCD medical students and staff. All of the girls brought in their sick teddy bears and took them to the hospital where they got MRI scans, bandages, injections and medical profiles. The girls learned all about the hospital and about the importance of hygiene, healthy eating and exercise for our health as well. Huge thanks once again to Mr. Courtney and the volunteers from UCD. We had a fantastic time and it's truly appreciated. |
St. Vincent's GNS Open Day 2016April 25th, 2016
The Staff & Students of St. Vincent's GNS would like to extend an open invitation to the public for our annual Open Day this Friday, April 29th. The School will be open from 11:00am - 12:30pm. You are invited to come and look at the variety of facilities here as well as observe all the fun learning that occurs daily in our school. There will be refreshments available to all in attendance. SFI Discover Science & Maths Award Showcase 2016April 2016
The students and staff have been working hard over the past number of months at becoming budding scientists. We have engaged in some fantastic science experiments integrating maths, engineering and technology into the mix. It was a fantastic experience and we have all learned so much. 1916 Rising Tour of Dublin's GPOApril 12th, 2016
The girls from fourth, fifth and sixth class made their way down to Dublin's GPO today to experience the Easter Rising 1916 tour there. The students and teachers really enjoyed the tour and truly enhanced their knowledge on the events of the Easter Rising with thanks to it. We would like to extend our thanks to the staff of the GPO for having us. |
Proclamation Day 2016March 15th, 2016
Today we joined many schools across the country in commemoration of the Easter Rising 1916. The event was the culmination of many months of learning, preparation and work by students and teachers in the school. Students read the proclamation along with their own interpretations of future proclamations. We then raised our national flag which had been delivered by the Defence Forces back in November 2015. Thereafter, the girls performed a beautiful rendition of the Foggy Dew. Congratulations and many thanks to all involved, it was a memorable event and one we are sure to always remember. |

Great craic was had today in the school hall, as the staff and students of St. Vincent's GNS gathered together together to participate in our annual Céilí. Well done to all the individual performers and Miss Neylon for her super dance and her direction. |
Easter Rising Play with 4th ClassMarch 14th, 2016
A massive well done to Mr. Creavin and the girls of 4th Class for the fantastic performance today of their play to recreate and remember the events of the 1916 Easter Rising. Bicycle Workshop with HalfordsMarch 8th, 2016
Huge thanks to members of staff from Halford's who paid our school a visit today to give our senior students a lesson in bicycle maintenance and safety. The girls really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. It's greatly appreciated. |
Green Schools Action DayMarch 7th, 2016
Today our Green Schools Committee organised an Action Day based around the topic of travel to enhance our chances of securing our fourth Green Flag. Several activities took place around the school including designing shoes, funky feet, artwork, workshops and many more. All the girls made their best efforts to walk, cycle or scoot to school. All classes then ventured out to the Canal Yard to partake in a 1km run or walk. Great fun was had by all! |
Easter RaffleMarch 2016
It's that time of the year again. Our Easter Raffle will take place on March 16th. We have a wide range of prizes including hampers, Easter eggs, activity sets and many more. Raffle tickets can be bought from the class teacher or office. Tickets are 25 cent each or €1 for a strip of five. |

Friendship Week ConcertFebruary 12th, 2015
Today was the biggest part of our Friendship Week here at St. Vincent's GNS. All of the staff and students gathered in the hall to enjoy our annual Friendship Concert. Senior and Junior classes were paired off together not only to create a fantastic spectacle for all of the students, but also to create new friendships among the girls in the school. Everyone had a superb day watching the pairs perform songs based around the theme of friendship. Well done to all those involved. |

We have had a fantastic, joyful and fun filled friendship week here in school this week. I think everyone will agree it was great to see all the girls being extra kind to one another each and every day. St. Vincent's GNS Christmas Concert 2015December 21st, 2015
Members of the school community were treated to a variety of spectacles today, as each class in the school performed various songs and dances to Christmas classics and other popular songs. I think everyone agrees that the girls were fantastic and deserve to be very proud of themselves. Songs and Fun with the Garda BandDecember 17th, 2015
Today we were delighted to welcome An Garda Síochána's Garda Band to our school. It was a pleasure to meet the members of the Gardaí and watch them demonstrate their musical talents as they put on a great show for us. Students enjoyed singing and dancing to their favourite Christmas songs as well as other classics. It was a great performance and the students and staff of the school would like to extend gratitude to the Garda Band for their visit. |

From the North Pole to North William Street; Santa's Visit to our school!December 16th, 2015: Excitement filled the hallways of St. Vincent's GNS today, as Santa Clause managed to take some time from his busy schedule to pay the students of our school a visit. Santa was very kind and asked each and every girl what they wanted for Christmas and the girls were also delighted to receive an early gift from him. Santa enjoyed listening to the girls singing their favourite Christmas Songs too. Thank you Santa, we look forward to your visit on the 25th of December.

School Christmas Concert & Raffle
Parents are reminded that our annual school Christmas Concert will take place on Monday, December 21st (Junior Infants - 1st Class 09:30-10:30 & 2nd Class - 6th Class 11:00-12:00). All family members are invited to come along and enjoy the spectacles that our students, with their teachers have put together. School will finish at 12:30 on this day. We will break up for the Christmas Holidays on Tuesday, December 22nd at 12pm.
Raffle tickets are currently available for our Christmas Raffle. They are 25 cent each or €1 for five. |

Today was Crazy Hair Day in St. Vincent's GNS. The girls and staff showed their creative sides and the hair styles were most definitely crazy. Thank you so much to the students for donating money to support Crumlin Children's Hospital. We are proud to say that together we raised over €200 for such an amazing cause. |
