Well Being May 2021
We all know how important a healthy and balanced diet is for our overall health. We have decided to have a Healthy Eating Week in our school from Monday 24th-28th May. We will encourage our pupils to eat healthily next week, taste food they may not have tasted before or prefer not to eat Children need to be offered a new food as many as 10-15 times before they will eat it!
Let's make it fun and ask them to "eat a rainbow" during the week. Below is the plan for each day. Pupils can choose to eat the fruit provided in school for the week or you can pack something healthy of the colour of the day. Whichever they choose, they will get a golden ticket and at the end of the week, we will pick one ticket for a prize. Thankyou to Mrs Murray for organising the prizes and to the teachers for preparing a healthy snack for their classes.

World ASD Day took place this year on 2nd April. Our school community celebrated World ASD Day on Friday 16th April as staff and pupils dressed in blue. Thanks to power point presentations created by Ms Lawlor and lessons planned by our wonderful class teachers, our pupils had lots of fun learning about Autism, being creative in developing posters and decorating buns with blue icing. Here are some photographs taken on the day of the girls and the work they created.
Well being March 2021
Hello everyone! We hope you are all well and wish you a lovely Easter. Stay safe and remember to look after your mental health.
We had a fantastic month in our school and had lots of fun participating in FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS!!! We had extra playtime, celebrated all missed special occasions with delicious chocolate cakes. We caught up with our friends and had biscuits and chats. The Friday before the holidays, Ms Gaffney, Mrs Gallagher and some senior pupils donned their Easter bonnets and organised an egg hunt for all the girls from Waterside, Junior Infants - 3rd Class. The excitement was palpable. We were lucky the rain stayed away and the bunny-eared seniors were on hand to help the juniors find all the chocolate. A big thanks to Ms O'Connor and Mrs Murray for the shopping. Check out the video below, compiled by Ms Murphy.

Well being February 2021
During the month of February we were learning from home and talking about what it means to be a good friend. On the 26th February we had a special Friendship themed zoom assembly with our teachers and principal. Pupils spoke about looking out for others in the playground, helping their friends with their work and being there in good and bad times.
A lot of pupils entered our friendship art competition and all received a small prize for participating. There were some wonderful pieces of art!! It was difficult for the teachers to choose a winner. Here is the list of the prize winners. We hope you enjoyed the pizzas.

January 2021
We had planned to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week in school this month and because it is so important that we all take care of our mental health, we felt we could not let it go. So, teachers and pupils were engaged online and offline in a variety of well being activities during the week of the 25th of January.
The girls in senior infants and 1st class were keeping calm doing their yoga and reflecting on things that make them happy. The girls in 4th class were using their well being wheel to choose a well being activity each day. I spun it this morning and I landed on "play your favouite song". Yesterday I got "take 10 deep breaths".
The adults in our school also made a point of doing something to care for themselves: Ms O'Connor was jogging in The Phoenix Park, Ms Fanning went swimming, Ms McNamara baked some sweet treats and Ms Campbell did some yoga, Ms Perry and Ms Griffin were listening to their favourite tunes, Ms Mannion went for a daily walk and Ms O'Toole treated herself to a face mask and foot mask.
We hope you are all keeping well at this difficult time. Remember to put aside a little time for yourself each day and when life becomes overwhelming, stop to breathe, and connect to yourself, to your body, to nature, to others.

Happy New Year to you all! I know Santa came to you all and I hope you are still enjoying your presents.
I was looking forward to us all returning to school today but unfortunately that is not to be. I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.
Today is the Feast of the Epiphany , the day the 3 Wise Men visited the baby Jesus in the stable in Bethlehem. I was all ready with my display and had our Assembly ready as well.
The Minister for Education has granted you 3 extra holidays to give teachers a chance to get our on-line learning sorted!
We will be linking in with you from Monday using Seesaw. As usual if you have any problems you can ring the school and I will get back to you.
In the meantime take care of yourselves and those you love.

Warm greetings from all in St Vincent's GNS. We are delighted to be able to share with you the wonderful Christmas Concert which the pupils and staff have worked tirelessly on over the past month. The girls rose to the challenge as always and the end result is a concert filled with Christmas spirit and positivity. It has given us all a lift in school and hopefully it will spread some magic in your homes when you watch it.
From all the staff in St Vincent's I'd like to thank you for your support and wish each of you a happy and safe Christmas. We have made it this far as a team and we will get there if we continue to work together!

Well Being
December 2020
This month we have been busy being kind and remembering our manners. We are very lucky here in our school to have such a friendly and kind school community. It's the people who make our school so special, the children and adults are warm and welcoming and will always lend a helping hand. It was so lovely to see teachers, SNAs and children come together to work on the wonderful Christmas projects this month. I cannot wait to watch The Christmas Show, ye are such a talented bunch!!!
Our Kindness Display
Read some of the kind acts the girls did...........
The girls in the school, from junior infants to 6th class, have been doing lots of RAKs (Random Acts of Kindness). Ms Campbell's girls have been thinking of so many different ways they can fill each others buckets, I think some of the buckets are over flowing at this stage!!!
All children are counting down the days til Christmas and many have been opening the windows of their Advent Calendars in class. Look at this wonderful giant sized calendar the girls in 2nd class made. A brilliant way to remind us all to do one kind deed everyday.
Try to be "a bucket filler" this Christmas by doing some of these things............
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
For the Month of November we are reflecting on the things in our lives we are grateful for and we are saying thankyou.
The pupils of St Vincent's GNS are making thankyou cards, talking about the people in their lives they are grateful for, writing thankful poems and being creative. Take a look at the wonderful displays our school community has created...........

The 5th class pupils were busy making thankyou posters for some of our hardworking staff. Girls, I know you enjoyed making them and you put a smile on lots of faces!!!
The girls from room 10 worked hard on their grateful notes...............
The girls in St Vincent's are grateful for their families, friends, teachers, homes and for all of the frontline workers.
We had great fun and excitement in St Vincent's on the day of the Halloween holidays. We had a visit from a local photographer Paul Kelly who took some fantastic photographs of the girls as they arrived in school. Some adults were also very lucky to get their photographs taken.
Pascal Donohoe the Minister for Finance also dropped in remind us all of the dangers of Halloween. His message was to Stay Safe during the Halloween period!

During the months of September and October we have been doing lots of things to promote wellbeing in our school. Senior classes have been doing yoga, GAA, Art and Music. Junior classes have done lots of mindful art, busy breaks, games and dance. When the weather is good, we all get outside for much needed fresh air and exercise too.
Our theme for this half term was COVID STORIES & RAINBOW MOMENTS. The girls and teachers had lots of discussion around how lockdown was for them and their families and they had time to talk about the things in their lives that make them feel happy.
Look at the artwork created by the wonderful girls of St Vincent's................special thanks to Ms Mason and Ms Kelly for the wonderful displays.

Hi girls,
Tomorrow is Autism Awareness day. I wish we were in school to celebrate properly. Ms Lawlor has some activities on the Waterside page. It is beside Junior Infants on the classes tab. There is a poster competition like the ones we sometimes have in school. Design a poster, it can have a quote, a drawing, a poem, anything that shows how we include everyone in our wonderful school. If you upload it to the Padlet before Monday you will be in with a chance to win a pizza voucher that we will post to your house! Good luck everyone!

We got pizza, sandwiches, cookies and juice and we chatted to the people in the bank while we ate it all. The bank gave us little piggy banks, notebooks, pens and shredded money! Room 18 Trip to Bull Island 6th November 2019
Recount by Niamh Bishop
On Wednesday people from Bank of Ireland came into our class and chatted to us about biodiversity. Then we got on a bus to go to Dollymount Beach, Bull Island. When we got there we were looking for plans and animals. We were picking shells and mussels. After that we took lots of pictures and ran away from the waves. We got all wet! We all got to take pictures on their cameras. Then we went on a walk in the opposite direction. We tried to hear some birds or see some birds. After that we walked back to the bus. On the bus we sang songs and talked. Soon enough we arrived back at the school. It was a great trip 😊
